About BlinkNBuild

Open-Source Hardware, Embedded Systems & Robotics Education

Our Mission

BlinkNBuild is an independent engineering educational platform created to bridge the gap between abstract university theory and real-world electronics prototyping. We build and document tested hardware projects spanning the ESP32, ESP8266, Arduino, STM32, and digital electronics logic.

Every project published on BlinkNBuild is built, wired, and verified on physical breadboards before publication. We believe that true engineering competence is forged through hands-on experimentation, debugging real-world signal noise, and writing clean, non-blocking firmware.

Our Editorial & Engineering Standards

  • Breadboard-Verified Hardware: We do not publish unverified theoretical circuit diagrams. Every schematic is bench-tested with multimeters, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Synthesizable & Production Code: All firmware code is written with clean C++ architecture, non-blocking state machine loops (avoiding arbitrary delays), and clear pin definitions.
  • Open-Source Freedom: Our circuit schematics, bill of materials, and firmware repositories are released under permissive open-source licenses for students, makers, and hobbyists worldwide.
  • Open to every learner: Every tutorial, course and browser tool can be read and used by anyone with an internet connection.

What You Will Find Here

  • The Hardware Academy: six complete courses. Three start from zero - State Machines, Embedded C and Static Timing Analysis - and three go deep into Verilog and SystemVerilog, FPGA design with Vivado and Zynq, and the open-source ASIC flow. Every new word links to a shared glossary, and every sub-module ends with a quick check.
  • The GATE ECE portal: practice questions in all eight technical subjects, each solved step by step, with the idea behind it, the usual traps, and a variation to try. Every question is written for this site and labelled as a practice problem; none is presented as a real past-paper question.
  • Browser tools: FSM Studio, OLED Pixel Studio and SchemFlow, each with a full guide below the tool.
  • Projects, cheat sheets and hackathon guides from our own builds and competitions.

How the Lessons Are Checked

A course is only useful if its numbers are right, so in the beginner courses no number, waveform or code example is typed from memory. Each one is produced by a test program first, and the lesson quotes what the program printed:

  • State Machines from Zero: every machine is run on a cycle-accurate model and compared with a brute-force answer before it is published.
  • Embedded C from Zero: every C example is compiled with all warnings treated as errors and run, and its output is compared with a saved copy whenever anything changes.
  • Static Timing Analysis from Zero: every arrival time, slack and timing report comes from a small timing engine written for the course.
  • GATE practice and tool guides: the numbers in the notes, variations and guides are recomputed by scripts, including the byte sizes, scores and timings quoted about our own tools and games.

When one of these checks disagrees with a draft, the check wins and the lesson is corrected before it goes live.

Corrections

If you find a mistake - a wrong number, a broken example or an unclear explanation - please email blinknbuildyt@gmail.com with the page address and what you found. We check every report, fix confirmed errors on the page itself, and re-run the checks for the whole course before the fix goes live.
